Leo

Made from hockey jerseys in celebration of his graduation from high school, Leo is my first attempt at any sort of a memory quilt and was my very first commissioned project. It was so much fun to make!

After seeing the jerseys together, I knew we would need an accent color to unify the jerseys' colors and graphic elements, and after looking at a few options, Leo's Mom decided on this beautiful sunflower gold. This totally custom design is a blend of 14" blocks and 7" strips, which I assembled along with the beautifully soft grey flannel backing fabric using the quilt-as-you-go method - which allowed me to stitch some of the graphical elements through to the back (meaning, you get a nice soft mirror of the front design on the back; it's hard to see in the photo, but it turned out super cool.)

Do you have a quilt project that is just itching to get made? Learn more about the Betsymade process or contact me and let's talk about your project! I'd love to bring it to life for you.
