Magnolia

My niece Magnolia Grace was born in August 2014, and I made this one for her. 

This was incredibly fun, choose your own adventure-style quiltmaking. These blocks are from all sorts of places - some experiments that never became something more, some leftover from quilts that came before (like the split 9-patch in the upper right, that's from Judy, and the stripey blocks, which are from Molly), and some were made just for Magnolia.

The border is blessings, hand-written by the many women who loved Magnolia even before she was born, and then transferred to fabric and wrapped around the rest.
